My Grandma was a Real Adventurer!

I recently refinished the trunk my grandmother used as a 17 year-old to emigrate to Canada. When I think that she left home alone with only this small trunk to carry her wordly goods for a new future in Canada, I give thanks for all the technology that makes adventure travel much easier now. She had no Skype to call home, iPad to get the weather forecast, no iPod to look at pictures of the palm trees she left behind, no credit cards, no freeze-dried food for the 10-day voyage, no miracle fabrics that squish to nothing and dry overnight. Alice Bird embodied the spirit of an adventurer and gave her ancestors a much better life from her sacrifices!
